One Moviegoer With a Gun Could Have Prevented 70 Innocent People From Being Shot

July 20th, 2012

In light of the incident at the Dark Knight premier early this morning, it’s worth noting that we as a law abiding society could have prevented the deaths of, at last count, 13 people and the injuries sustained by scores of others.

Anti-gun fanatics will tell us that outlawing guns is the solution. In fact, before the smoke from the gunfire dissipated this morning special interests and politicians were already calling for more gun control. Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg has asked our Presidential candidates to directly address the issue:

No matter where you stand on the Second Amendment, no matter where you stand on guns, we have a right to hear from both of them, concretely, not just in generalities, specifically, what are they going to do about guns?

No doubt Mr. Bloomberg (and his merry band of government nitwits) would be ecstatic if both candidates supported a Constitutional Convention to eliminate the second amendment.

I remember well Hungerford 1988. Michael Ryan walked around the town shooting anyone and everyone, before killing himself. After the hand wringing was over, Britain brought in even more draconian gun control. The lesson then, as now is simple to learn. One armed citizen could have prevented tragedy, allowed children to still have parents, mothers to have sons and daughters.

Alas, as always, the obvious lessons are lost to the closed minds.

    • Hillary Clinton is set to sign the UN Small Arms Treaty on July 27 (if I remember correctly). This treaty is none too popular and will fail to be ratified in the Senate as most Americans don’t support turning the arms trade over to those UN bastards. One week before this is to happen, this vile and horrid shooting happens. Coincidence? I don’t believe in those.

I totally agree. Ryan was an interesting subject, very similar in age and a licensed member of a gun club. I firmly believe dark hands have worked their usual trickery here.
We know these fanatics will stop at nothing, go to any lengths.
A fellow I know made a mistake recently. He said he would use his guns to defend himself if need be. It got back to the police, his certificate has now been rescinded. Any excuse to deprive another of a legitimate holding.

A sign of the times my friend.
