Undercover Study Finds It’s Easy to Buy Illegal Guns on Craigslist

Craigslist has a policy against listing guns for sale. You might think that would mean that, you know, you can’t buy guns there.
Nope. Not only is it easy to find guns listed — it’s shockingly easy to purchase them, even if you have the sort of record that would prevent you from buying them through legitimate channels. That’s according to a study conducted by the City of New York, the results of which were announced Thursday by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
Private investigators from the firm Kroll reviewed a number of online gun venues and responded to listings they found there, posing as buyers who openly admitted to being unable to pass a background check. When they searched Craigslist, they found the site is notably lax in enforcing its policy of prohibiting gun listings. In fact, nationwide, they found nearly 1,800 active listings from the previous 100 days.
(Partisan Ranger Note: It would seem that Mr. Bloomberg’s war on the right of the people to defend themselves is never ending. This article is bunk as are the efforts of Bloomberg. There is no such thing as an illegal gun under our Second Amendment.)
